Promoting Children’s Success: Building Relationships and Creating Supportive Environments, Birth to Age 5
Date/Time/Hours: Thursday evenings in 1/9-2/6, 6-8pm, 10 hours total
Location: CSAC – 109 Catamount Park, Middlebury, VT

Cost: $30-$50 depending on membership status

Summary: This series will focus on supporting social-emotional development and best practices in programs for children from birth through age five. The content of the training is based on the eMTSS Pyramid Model: Tier One, Universal Practices for All Children and will include attachment and relationship building and establishing daily routines and environments that support social-emotional development. The workshop is appropriate for teachers new to the field as well as those struggling with challenging behaviors in their classroom. Participants are expected to attend all workshops in the series.

January 16th: Relationships, Attachment, Caregiver Affect
January 23th: Positive Environments, Schedules & Responsive Routines
January 30rd: Language and Directions, Effective Transitions, Child Engagement
February 6th: Positive Guidance, Behavioral Expectations, Positive Feedback

Learning goals:
• Understand social-emotional development in early childhood and develop personal strategies to create positive relationships with children, families, and other staff
• Learn that children’s behavior is communication and how to support child development by being thoughtful, attuned observers.
• Develop strategies to teach appropriate social-emotional skills within the context of positive relationships, routines, and environment.
• Create a personal action plan for at least one teaching practice that supports social-emotional development.
